ስለ ሃገር በቀል ማዕከል

የኢትዮጵያን ህዝብ የኑሮልምድና፡ የሐገርበቀል እውቀቶቻችንን፡ የአስተሳሰባችን መነጽር አድርገን በመመልከት፤ በብዙሐኑ የገጠር ህዝባችን ‘ጫማ’ ላይ ቆመን አለማችንን፣ ተቋሞቻችንን፣ ኢኮኖሚያችንን፣ ፖለቲካችንንና ራሳችንን በመመርመር፤ ትምህርታችን፣ ስራችን፣ ፖሊሲወቻችን፣ እውቀታችንና ህልማችን ሁሉ ከብዙሐኑ ህዝባችን ህይወት ጋር ያለውን አንድነትና ልዩነት በማጤን ፤ በኢትዮጵያ የሐገርበቀል እውቀቶች ዙሪያ እጅግ አስፈላጊና ትውልድ ተሻጋሪ ስራወችን ለመስራት በጋራ ተነስተናል።

የኢትዮጵያ ሐገርበቀል እውቀቶች ተቋም የኢትዮጵያ ሐገርበቀል እውቀቶች እንዲጠኑ፣ እንዲታወቁ፣ ስራ ላይ እንዲውሉና ከትውልደ ወደ ትውልድ እንዲተላለፉ በሚከተሉት አላማወች ላይ በማትኮር ይሰራል፦

• የሐገርበቀል እውቀቶች ላይ ከተጽኖ ነጻ የሆነ ምርምርና አለማቀፍ ጉባኤወች ማካሄድ

• የተዘረፉ የሐገራችን የእውቀት ሐብቶች እንዲመለሱና ለተገልጋዩ የህብረተሰብ ክፍል እንዲደርሱ ማድረግ

• ሐገርበቀል ትምህርቶችን የሚማሩ ኢትዮጵያውያንን መደገፍ

• ሐገርበቀል እውቀቶቻችንን ለህዝባችን በተለይም ለወጣቱ ማስተማር

• ሐገርበቀል እውቀቶች በመንግስትና በሚመለከታቸው የሚገባቸውን ትኩረት እንዲያገኙ መስራት

•  ሐገርበቀል እውቀቶችን መሰረት ያደረገ የትምህርት መርሃ ግብር ማዘጋጀት   

• ሐገርበቀል እውቀቶቻችን በዱሮውና በአዲሱ ትውልድ መካከል፣ እንዲሁም በህብረብዙ ባህሎቻችን መካከል ያለውን ትሥስር ለማጠናከርና ሐገራችንም ለአፍሪካዉያንና ለውጭ ሐገሮችም የራሷን የእውቀት ሐብት እንድታበረከት ማስቻል

• በሃገር ቤትና ከኢትዮጵያም ውጭ ያሉ ወገኖች ባሉበት ቦታወች ሁሉ በሐገርበቀል እውቀት ዙሪያ በትብብር የሚሰሩበትን የግንኙነት መረብ መዘርጋት ።

ተግባራችን ከፖለቲካ ፓርቲና ከሃይማኖት ተቋማት ወገንተኝነት የራቀና ሙሉ ሐይሉን የሚያፈሰው ሁሉም የሐገራችን እውቀቶች እንዲታወቁ፣ ስራ ላይ እንዲውሉና ለትውልድ እንዲተላለፉ በመጣር ላይ ብቻ ይሆናል፡፡

እርሰወም ይህንን ጥረት ለመደገፍ ያለወትን ሃሳብ ቢያካፍሉን በደስታ እንቀበላለን።

Why Society for indigenous education?

Society for Indigenous Education (SIE) is a non-profit organisation established for the study, promotion and protection of indigenous knowledges in Ethiopia. It seeks to address the alarming destruction of indigenous knowledges, languages and cultures of some of the most impoverished societies, communities and groups of the world. In Ethiopia, indigenous knowledges have been undermined due to the adoption of a western education system and the use of English as a medium of instruction from high school through to university. Consequently, the majority of Ethiopians who live in rural places hardly benefit from the western education system in the country. SIE recognises the importance of researching, studying and promoting Ethiopian indigenous knowledges and languages in order to make education relevant to the lives of the people.

• Research on indigenous and homegrown Ethiopian knowledges and lived experiences

• Conferences and publications

• Repatriation of Ethiopian manuscripts and other treasures to their cultural owners

• Support students in the traditional education systems

• Raising awareness about indigenous & homegrown knowledges

• Influencing policy making in favour of the protection, promotion and use of indigenous and homegrown knowledges

• Translating relevant knowledges from foreign languages into local languages

• Developing educational curriculums based on Ethiopian history, philosophy and culture.

• Enhancing intergenerational and cross-cultural dialogue between older and younger generations

• Promoting exchange of knowledges, experiences and resources with likeminded entities and individuals.
